Therapies Offered
No two people experience difficulties in exactly the same way. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress, self-confidence, or the lasting impact of difficult life experiences, therapy should feel tailored to you.
At Nine Oaks Therapy, I offer evidence-based psychological therapies that are adapted to your personal goals and circumstances. Together, we'll develop an understanding of the challenges you're facing and identify the most effective therapeutic approach to support your recovery and wellbeing.
Sessions are available online across the UK, with limited face-to-face appointments also available in Wigan.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a practical and collaborative therapy that helps you understand the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, physical feelings, and behaviours.
Sometimes, we can find ourselves stuck in patterns that maintain anxiety, low mood, stress, or self-doubt. CBT helps identify these patterns and teaches effective strategies to challenge unhelpful thinking and develop healthier coping skills.
CBT can be particularly helpful for:
- Anxiety and excessive worry
- Panic attacks
- Social anxiety
- Health anxiety
- Depression and low mood
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Low self-esteem
- Stress and burnout
- Phobias
Rather than simply talking about difficulties, CBT focuses on helping you make meaningful changes that can improve your day-to-day life and emotional wellbeing.
Sessions last between 50-60 minutes and cost £80.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly effective therapy designed to help people process traumatic or distressing experiences that continue to affect them in the present.
Difficult experiences can sometimes become "stuck", leaving us feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally reactive, or constantly on alert. EMDR helps the brain process these memories in a safer and more adaptive way, allowing their emotional impact to reduce over time.
EMDR may be beneficial for:
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Childhood trauma
- Psychological trauma
- Distressing life events
- Accidents or medical trauma
- Anxiety linked to past experiences
- Low self-worth rooted in earlier experiences
Many clients find that EMDR helps them feel less affected by difficult memories, allowing them to move forward with greater confidence and emotional freedom.
Sessions last between 50-60 minutes and cost £80.
